Before founding Nvidia in 1993, Jensen Huang worked as a design engineer at LSI Logic Corporation, where he gained expertise in chip design and semiconductor architecture.
This experience directly shaped his vision for creating specialized graphics processors.
Huang joined LSI Logic in the late 1980s during the semiconductor industry's expansion phase. His work on microprocessor design gave him the technical foundation and industry networks he would later leverage to identify opportunities in graphics computing.
Huang recognized that graphics processing required fundamentally different chip architectures than general purpose CPUs. This insight, combined with his LSI Logic experience, motivated him to start Nvidia with co founders Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem. The company would eventually become the world's most valuable company, now operating with Huang's son involved in leadership roles.
