Political Resilience and Return to Power
Lula secured his third presidential term after a polarizing 2022 election against incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. The contest was marked by intense campaigning, with both candidates mobilizing voters across Brazil's diverse regions, including remote Indigenous communities. His return to office demonstrated sustained political influence despite conviction and imprisonment between 2018 and 2021.
Current Influence and Governing
Lula maintains an influence score of 100 out of 100 in geopolitical assessment metrics. His administration has focused on social programs, environmental policy, and economic management. At 81 years old, his presidency represents a significant political comeback rather than a story about youthful leadership.
