Global Climate Context
The urgency for expedited energy transition is a central theme in 2026 discussions, as highlighted by Baku Climate Action Week 2026. Global warming impacts are severe; scientists say August was Earth's hottest month they have measured. These trends underscore the need for swift policy action from all EU member states.
Energy Transition Priorities
Europe wide, the focus is on reducing reliance on fossil fuels and expanding renewable energy sources. This transition is critical to mitigating climate hazards, which disrupted school for 1 in 10 students in 2025, according to UNICEF. Prague's energy sector modernization aims to align with these broader European goals.
