Iranisches Atomabkommen

The Iran nuclear deal has been bad for regional stability.
Its collapse accelerated Iranian nuclear advancement while failing to resolve underlying security tensions that now manifest across the Middle East.

Current Iranian Activity

Iran maintains 77 tracked signals in geopolitical databases as of 2026, concentrated in nuclear weapons development and regional conflicts. Fighting has intensified in Yemen with hundreds killed or injured, directly linked to Iranian proxy operations unconstrained by deal provisions.

Security Implications

The deal's framework could not address Iranian support for militant networks. Recent incidents including alleged plots targeting Jewish communities in the UK and RAF airspace violations demonstrate how the agreement left coercive capabilities untouched. Without enforceable mechanisms beyond nuclear inspections, Iran expanded asymmetric warfare while advancing centrifuge technology.

The original Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action prioritized nuclear constraints over behavioral change. Its failure to include regional security provisions meant Iran could pursue nuclear capability while maintaining destabilizing proxy operations that continue escalating conflicts across the Middle East today.
