what is keir starmer doing now

Starmer's government is managing several concurrent pressures in 2026. On the security front, the United Kingdom has faced complications in its defence relationship with the United States, including an incident at a U.K. air base where American B 1 bombers were recalled following allegations that individuals were plotting an attack. Domestically, the government has terminated the "one in, one out" Channel migrant exchange deal with France, shifting the approach to cross channel migration policy. These decisions reflect Starmer's administration navigating both transatlantic security concerns and immigration strategy amid domestic political scrutiny.
