Policy Focus and Public Record
Von der Leyen has concentrated on EU institutional leadership. Recent priorities include managing European debt concerns, with auditors warning that EU debt could hit 1 trillion euros by 2027. Her influence score stands at 69 out of 100, reflecting her significant but contested role in EU governance.
Ukraine Defense Support
A defining aspect of von der Leyen's current tenure involves European defense commitments. The European Commission has disbursed 1.24 billion euros to boost Ukraine's defense industry, representing a major geopolitical shift in EU spending. Any future memoir would likely address this pivotal period in European foreign policy and the Commission's wartime leadership role.
