What Is Donald Trump Doing About Iran
Current Approach
Trump's Iran strategy mirrors his first term emphasis on maximum pressure through economic sanctions. The administration has avoided military escalation while keeping diplomatic channels theoretically open, following his 2024 campaign pledges to resolve the nuclear question through negotiation rather than conflict.
Domestic Political Context
Trump faces significant internal Republican concerns about his approval ratings sinking in party polling.
